California based niche perfumery Strange Invisible Perfumes, which takes its name from an evocative Shakespeare quote, found in Antony and Cleopatra: "From the barge a strange invisible perfume hits the sense of the adjacent wharfs" will offer unconventional if not strange flowers for us to smell this spring. House perfumer Alexandra Balahoutis is going to launch three perfumes in March of 2009 which are updated takes on the genre of the romantic soliflores those scents based on a main floral note for illustration or inspiration as it was more commonly done in the 19th century and early 20th century.
The three "iconic floral notes" chosen have been made part of three modernized compositions: Epic Gardenia, Aquarian Roses, and Urban Lily. Alexandra Balahoutis said,
"Past fragrances have been about complex tapestries and different essences with unlikely synergies," "But for spring, I really wanted to step back and revisit the idea of a single note floral in a contemporary context."...
Aquarian Roses is an unisex fragrance featuring the interpretation of a wild rose with supporting notes of African marjoram and sandalwood.
Epic Gardenia is reportedly "tormenting and unapologetic" with notes of peach, cedarwood and jasmine.
Urban Lily was seen from the angle of its extraordinary resilience and both below-ground and above-ground presence, with notes of mimosa and jasmine.
The scents will be available in 0.25-oz. parfum (1.7 oz)
