Canadian designer Alfred Sung has launched a new bridal perfume called Always this April 2009. He debuted in this genre of wedding perfumes with Forever in 1993. The scent was inspired by the description of Grace Kelly's wedding in a biography of hers he had been reading. The jus was concocted by perfumer Clément Gavarry of IFF and is described as a "sparkling floral." Said Sung,
"This scent is like a colorful bouquet built around orris,..." Emphasis is put on the costliness of orris absolute.
"Top notes are of water lily, kumquat and neroli; the heart is of pink peony, honeysuckle petals and orris absolute, and the drydown is of sandalwood, patchouli and ambrette seeds."
Sandalwood and water-lily notes were added in memory of the designer's childhood in Hong Kong, and kumquat for good luck.
