The glass bottle is not fancy. It is only in a simple transparent rectangle shape with "Coco Mademoiselle" written on misty glass right in the middle. And there is also a misty plastic lid with a tiny cute chanel logo in golden colour on it. But as being a classy perfume, the bottle of Coco Mademoiselle itself needs to reflect the simplicity and sophistication of the product. The perfume itself is in a pale pink colour and will settle down into a nice subtle fragrance after the first 5 minutes. The packaging is the usual Chanel box, shiny, pearl white with the gold rim.
It’s quite chic and graceful.

Guerlain Idylle by Guerlain Perfume for Women





This September 2009, Guerlain will capture the embodiment of a transient love affair with a new feminine fragrance, called Idylle. The scent is being positioned as a “dream of love.”

'Created by Guerlain nose Thierry Wasser, Idylle is composed around two rose notes: a blend of Bulgarian roses, and the Plessis Robinson rose. These have been combined with a chypre harmony, emblematic of Guerlain, composed of patchouli and white musk. Other key ingredients include lily-of-the-valley, lilac, peony, freesia and jasmine.'

Style.com reported that under direction of the new nose, Thierry Wasser, the "rose-centric" Idylle, Guerlain's first women's fragrance, is both sensual and light. Wasser said, "...I created an impressionistic expression [...] a bouquet made of joy, love, and happiness." Floral accents were hand-picked by Wasser and include jasmine, lily of the valley, peonies, freesia, and lilac.

The bottle, a gold reminiscent of a teardrop, was created by designer Ora Ïto. The fragrance will be available as a 30ml, 50ml and 100ml eau de parfum.

As reported, 'The Idylle launch will be supported by both TV and print advertising, directed by fashion photographer Paolo Roversi. The fragrance face is actress/singer Nora Arnezeder, who is depicted dancing and singing to a reorchestrated version of Singing in the Rain as golden raindrops fall all around her.'

Christian Dior Escale à Pondichéry by Christian Dior Perfume for Women


Christian Dior is due to launch Escale à Pondichéry this July 2009. A new, feminine scent from the “Escales de Dior” collection.

As reported, 'the fragrance follows on from Escale à Portofino, also created by Dior Perfumer-Creator François Demachy. Both fragrances feature raw materials that reflect the destination that inspired them.'

While Escale à Portofino drew inspiration from Italy, Escale à Pondichéry extends an invitation to Pondicherry, India, which served as the former trading post of the French East India Company.

The press release reports, 'The scent includes notes of jasmine, cardamom, sandalwood and – the major focus of the fragrance – black tea. Escale à Pondichéry is presented in the signature “Les Escales de Dior” flacon. The transparent bottle features an embossed canework design, and is topped with a silver cap. The outer carton sports a green label on a white canework background. The perfumer has selected a black tea enwrapped in a fresh and light signature that harmonizes with a spirit of happy insouciance.'

Escale à Pondichéry for Women will be available as a 75ml and 125ml eau de toilette spray.

Christian Dior has also recently unveiled its fall 2009 launches that include products in skincare, make-up, fragrance, and travel retail exclusives.

It is described as an 'unconventional composition within the floral oriental landscape, Private Blend Champaca Absolute is based around its eponymous rarely-used single note, complemented by a series of secondary ingredients.'

Tom Ford's Private Blend collection packaging is inspired by the dark brown glass colouring of the apothecary bottles used in perfumers work rooms. The top notes include Tokajii wine, Cognac, bergamot, davana and Mediterranean broom flower. The heart of champaca unfolds a floral blend of orchids, white violet and jasmine. The base notes envelope you in vanilla, amber, marron glace and sandalwood.

Champaca Absolute is created to be a bit heavy in the hand, but has the sleek architectural look of a chess piece. Just like Tom Ford's Previous release, Italian Cyress.  The 250ml top is carved “with the highest level of craftsmanship”, according to the company. It is designed to enhance the user’s home environment. It is available in a 50ml Eau de Parfum.

Tom Ford Priavte Collection includes Amber Absolute, Black Violet, Black Violet, Japon Noir, Moss Breches, Neroli Portofino, Noir de Noir, Oud Wood, Purple Patchouli, Tobacco Vanille, Tuscan Leather, and Velvet Gardenia. 'Hello Kitty has been awarded ‘Best Kid Perfume’ at the Cosmétique Mag Oscars 2009, now in its 20th year. Cosmétique Mag is a reference beauty trade magazine in France which awards its picks for the best beauty brands on an annual basis. Koto Parfums, brand manufacturers and representatives of the Hello Kitty fragrance, said it was delighted at the award. Since its launch, the Hello Kitty perfume line has earned keen support from the international public and selective beauty retailers, being top seller in the children’s segment in many countries, Koto Parfums added. The Hello Kitty range is being distributed in travel retail by UK-based Scorpio Distributors. It is available on selected European airlines and in certain airport duty free outlets.'

The house of Thierry Mugler recently sponsored the fragrance competition initiated by International Flavors & Fragrance (IFF), as part of the Fashion and Textiles Class of 2009 activities at London’s Royal College of Art (RCA).

'For 15 years IFF has been uniting the worlds of fashion and fragrance at the heart of the RCA. Each year, IFF sponsors the RCA and works with its Fashion and Textile Department. Students receive fragrance training via a series of three conferences led by a senior IFF perfumer. In addition IFF organises an annual fragrance competition. This year – for the first time – IFF partnered with a brand, choosing Thierry Mugler because of its international success within both fashion and fragrance. More than 40 students took part in the competition, the objective of which was to create the 'Thierry Mugler perfume of the future'. The project required three months of work before being presented to a panel of judges composed of several representatives of IFF and Mugler. Eleven finalists were selected before Collette Paterson was voted the 2009 winner. Her prize is a six-month internship at Thierry Mugler, plus £2,000. The runner-up received a six-month internship, plus £500. All the other nine finalists each received £500. IFF and Mugler awarded the 2009 Perfume Competition Prize to Paterson on 11 June during the traditional gala dinner organised by the RCA. It was attended by designers, journalists, artists and celebrities from the fashion world.'

“The launch of the new Alberta Ferretti signature fragrance marks a major strategic milestone for the Elizabeth Arden family.” With that declaration, Michael Shin, Senior Vice President Elizabeth Arden Europe, set in motion the worldwide reveal of the company’s new flagship women’s scent, which took place earlier this month at the Palazzo Donizetti in Milan, in the presence of the designer herself.' “This is the first European fashion designer with whom we have decided to operate in Europe,” Shin continued. “We believe this brand perfectly complements our existing portfolio, and that with this launch, more women around the world will have the opportunity to share the Alberta Ferretti vision of beauty.

“This vision has been very authentically translated into the fragrance, thanks to Ms Ferretti’s close personal involvement in the creative process. It’s been amazing how involved she’s been in every single step.” Shin paid tribute to the contemporary relevance of that Ferretti vision – and, just as importantly, its worldwide appeal. “As you know, in the beauty industry that is very significant, and one of the key ingredients of success.” “By that we mean the ingredients of the juice, the packaging, the execution of the advertising and, of course, the distribution. We want to be absolutely uncompromising that people associate this Alberta Ferretti fragrance with quality.”

Speaking through a translator, Ferretti herself talked at length about her new fragrance, but began by thanking her various collaborators. “I feel a bit emotional,” she admitted, “because I have wanted to set up this project for a long time…but I needed to find the right partner, and with Elizabeth Arden I did just that. “Arden knows such a lot about the world of women; they have a wealth of creative people, and they allowed me to be the Creative Director in this project.” 

International-

Last week in London distributor Kenneth Green Associates hosted the UK reveal of the new flagship feminine fragrance from Beauté Prestige International (BPI) and designer Issey Miyake. Called simply A Scent by Issey Miyake, the line will be available exclusively at Harrods and at Issey Miyake boutiques from 16 August, before rolling out nationally from 7 September. Chairman Kenneth Green greeted journalists on arrival at the stunning “Dreamvault” space, located in west London’s Great Titchfield Street.'

“We are here to celebrate the launch of a new Issey Miyake fragrance,” he declared, “and we haven’t had one of those for 11 years. Indeed, the original L’Eau d’Issey, which we all know and love, is now 17 years old.” "When we started to think about what is essential within fragrance, we knew we had to [deliver something] that would be totally consistent with the uniqueness of the brand, that is, the luxury of simplicity." Vice President Issey Miyake Parfums Nathalie Helloin Kamel also emphasised the significance of the new launch. “It’s a very special day for us on the Issey Miyake team, because we don’t have the reputation of launching product very often,” she underlined.

“As Kenneth has just reminded us, the last time we did so was 11 years ago; which means that when we do launch something, it’s very important for us.” Kamel explained how unique the creative process was for the Issey Miyake brand. “Creating fragrances for Issey Miyake is really very different, because it’s never about translating a trend, a style or a even a fashion show, into a scent,” she noted. “Instead, it’s all about encapsulating the house’s own spirit.” Just as the starting point for L’Eau d’Issey was the now-famous quote by the designer about how there was no more beautiful fragrance in the world than the scent of water on skin, so the inspiration for A Scent by Issey Miyake grew from the designer’s quest for the essential, as summarised in his stated conviction: “I always start creating from the simplest, but nonetheless most essential idea.”

Not much has been said about the new release by Jil Sander for women. It is however described as an 'elegantly structured floral amber composition, the Jil scent is said to reflect the true spirit of the Jil Sander brand, in terms of the quality of its materials and the purity of their rendition.' 

The face for Jil is Julia Restoin Roitfeld, daughter of the Editor-In-Chief of French Vogue, Carine Roitfeld. The campaign was shot by photographer Jan Welters. 

'Created by IFF’s Olivier Polge in collaboration with Bruno Jovanovic, Jil by Jil Sander opens on notes of pink pepper, lavender and tangerine, atop a floral heart of lily-of-the-valley, orris and heliotrope. The base is a blend of musk, vanilla beans and ambergris. '

'The fragrance flacon is an elongated rectangle, said to have been inspired by Jil Sander’s seasonal variations on a dress. The clear glass, which reveals the flesh-toned juice inside, is edged with a dark blue frame. '

Idole d’Armani is described as “an ode to femininity.” 'The opulent floral scent harness inspiration from the Orient, paired with timeless Italian elegance, according to the brand.'

This new fragrance for women opens with notes of bitter orange, pear, ginger and davana, building to a heart of rose loukoum, jasmine and saffron absolute. The base combines styrax, patchouli and vetiver.

The fragrance features actress Kasia Smutniak. “She embodies the spirit of the Idole d’Armani woman perfectly,” noted the designer. “Kasia…has a fresh and modern appeal which combines true feminine sensuality and rare beauty with inner strength of character.” 

The decroative bottle was inspired by the art deco era. A perfect balance of history and elegance. It takes the form of a crystalline sphere, enhanced with halos of fine circular waves which echo the central ‘o’ of Idole. L'Oreal and Giorgio Armani take charge in this sophisticated represenation of themsleves. The gold cap aims to evoke a piece of jewelery. The outer carton is coloured a matching shade of gold, decorated with fine, even grooves.
