How To Apply Eye Liner- Tips For Gorgeous Looking Eyes

Looking great has never been easier. To accomplish a great look, just add Eye Liner! Liquid eye liner can enhance even the smallest of eyes. Since you don't want to over do it, here are some tips to help you achieve those gorgeous eyes you have been searching for!

Liquid Eye Liner:

Step 1: Start with a completely bare eye, no shadow or mascara.

Step 2: Apply liquid liner in the upper lashes. Dot the liner into lashes, pushing them aside if need be. The result is not supposed to be a line. It's supposed to look as if the lashes themselves are super thick at the root.

Step 3: Apply mascara.

Step 4: Compare eye to other naked eye and see if you love the results.

Weekend Eye Liner:

Step 1: Holding the skin of your upper lid, apply eyeliner from the outside corner of the eye, stopping two-thirds of the way along the eyelid. Apply with short strokes, drawing the line into the lash line rather than above it. For a more dramatic look, make the outside line a bit thicker than the inside.

Step 2: Set liner with a deep eyeshadow. Dip eyeshadow brush into the shadow, then apply shadow over the eyeliner. This will set the eyeliner, which tends to rub off on eyelid.

Apply eyeshadow to lower lashes. Using your eyeshadow brush, apply the deep-hued eyeshadow along the bottom lashes, from the outside in. Unless you have wide-set eyes, don't line the entire lower lid. Instead, stop halfway across. For a more natural look, don't dip the brush into the shadow again, instead, use the excess that's still on the brush for the lower lashes.

Step 4: Clean up any mistakes with a cotton swab.

* To make eyes appear wider, trace the inner rims of eyes with a white pencil.

The Smoky Eye:

Step 1: Holding the skin of your upper lid, apply eyeliner from the inside corner of the eye outward. Draw strokes into the lash line. The middle of the line should be a bit thicker than the edges.

Step 2: Use a cotton swap (or your finger, if you're lazy like me) to "smudge" the liner.

Step 3: Dab an eyeshadow brush into a deep-hued eyeshadow and apply over the eyeliner to set the line. (Blow on the brush first to remove any excess shadow). Layering liner with a shadow is the secret to a perfect smoky eye.

Step 4: Blend Shadow

The Bold Eye:

Step 1: Holding the skin of your upper lid, apply the liquid liner from the middle of the eye to the outside corner of the eye.

Step 2: Draw a second line from the inside corner of your eye, letting the two lines meet. The outer edge of the line should be thicker than the inside. If you have close-set eyes, avoid taking the line all the way to the inside corner.

Cat Eyes:

Step 1: Holding the skin of your upper lid taut, dot liquid liner along the upper lash line as close to the eye as possible. Apply line from corner to corner of eye, extending the line upward at the outer corner of eye. Let liner dry for a few minutes before touching.

To soften this look (black liquid liner can be harsh), InStyle Magazine suggests trying a smudgeable pencil in a lighter color like dark brown or charcoal.

Step 2: Hold down the lower lid and apply liner only to the outer three quarters of the rim. Fade out the line as you approach the tear duct, according to makeup artist Mally Roncal in the March 2006 edition of InStyle Magazine. Extend the liner upwards at the outer corners.

For a softer version of this look, use an eye shadow brush and sweep a taupe or brown color on the lower lash line.

Self SunlessTanning Application Do's and Dont's For Men and Women With All Skin Types

Tanning Application Do's and Dont's For Men and Women With All Skin Types

Before you start the fake tanning application process, find a self tanning cream or mousse that works best for you - try it on a part of your body no one will see, so that you can see how the colour comes up. Once you have chosen one to use on your whole body, make sure you exfoliate before you begin, using a loofah or some kind of body scrub. This will make the colour go on much smoother and more naturally. Dry your skin thoroughly afterwards and decide where you are going to apply the tanner. You might want to prep by applying some moisturiser to areas where the skin is a bit tougher than the rest of your body, like knees and elbows. This skin can look funny when tanning cream is applied so the moisturiser should give you a more even look.

Recommended: St. Tropez Self Sunless Tanning Products. Everything you'll need for a natural self sunless tan is captured in St. Tropez. They have a selection of self tanning mists and moisturizers Hollywood Celebrities are using. You can choose your perfect skin shade and blends that won't turn your skin shades of orange! These products are ideal for all skin types and add a bronzed, shimmery look for instant radiance. Do more than just darken your skin. Get a gorgeous shimmer while you're at it! (See Blog: St. Tropez Self Tanning Products for Women and Men )

DO
- Exfoliate Entire Body First concentrating on ankles, toes, fingers, elbows & knees

- Dry off completely

- Apply a small amount of product to avoid streaking. (Better to reapply than to over apply)

- After applying to the sensitive areas (ankles, toes, fingers etc…), lightly brush over with a towel to remove excess product.

- For the face, use a self tanner that is made for the face (Face products tend to have a lighter texture than ones for the body)

- Wear loose, dark clothing afterwards

*In case you mess up, have a tint remover for hair accessible, they work well for quick removal

*If tanning for a certain event (ie. wedding, vacation, etc.), plan your tanning schedule backwards from that date to be sure your sun-kissed look will be perfected in time!

DON’T
- Don’t wait for the day before a big event to try self tanning. Each person reacts differently and turns a different color

- Avoid exfoliating with scrubs that contain essential oils. They might leave a film on your skin.

- Don’t mix lotion with your self-tanner

- Don’t forget your ears

- Don’t exfoliate for 1 week after applying

- Don’t workout the day of application

- Don’t shower 6-8 hours after applying

Self Tan Application

1. Immediately apply the Self Tanner to large smooth areas of the body or face.

2. Stay away from joints, crevices and folds which need to be applied with the triangle sponge.

3. Wash you hands with soap, water and the exfoliating product.

4. Apply small amounts of the Self Tanner to the thinner end of the triangle sponge.

5. Lightly feather the Self Tanner to your joints, crevices and folds of the skin feathering lightly onto the smoother areas.

6. Face: Use the triangle sponge to feather up to the lower eyelash line, down to the upper eye socket, hairline, eyebrows, and sides of nose, corners of the mouth and under the jaw line.

*It is better to apply less self tanner than to heavy of an application that may take days to lighten.

Reapplication

1. Wait 3-4 hours for the color to develop

2. Keep applying until the desired color is achieved waiting 3-4 hours between each application

3. Best to do procedure at night or on a day with no outside activities that may interfere with the color development or application schedule.

Touch ups: The body is usually done every 3-4 days; face may be touched up daily depending on desired color. If using a glycolic, AHA or retinoid product you will need to touch up more often due to the exfoliation process from these ingredients.

Avoid: Self Tanner coming in contact with clothing, carpets, fabrics, and man made materials i.e. plastic during application or immediately afterward. Avoid getting into eyes discontinue if irritation or rash appear.

Mascara Tips and Strategies: Eyelash Application for Women

Mascara Tips and Strategy: Eyelash Application for Women

Next to lipstick, mascara is your most effective makeup tool. It is a great eye opener that emphasizes the lashes. Mascara defines and brings color to the lashes, and highlights and dramatizes eyes. Different formulas can enhance your lashes in different ways. Using a proper application technique when applying mascara is extremely important to achieve a finished look. You must ensure that the mascara covers the lashes from the root to the tip of the lash.

To begin, you will need a mirror, mascara, and brow brush. Follow these tips to ensure proper mascara application:

1. Consider the types of mascara and select one appropriate for your lashes and the occasion. You have a choice of lengthening, thickening, long-wearing, conditioning and waterproof formulas, among others. For day, you might decide to add length, while a night on the town may require a long-wearing or thickening formula.

2. Select a color. If you have blond or red lashes, opt for brown mascara. Darker-lashed women can consider brown for a casual look, and black or brown-black for more pronounced or dramatic lashes.

3. Be sure to remove dried existing mascara before application. Be sure you have already applied the desired amount of eyeshadow before beginning. Mascara can often be pretty tricky. You don't want clumps of sticky goo on your lashes.

4. Remove the wand from the tube in one pull. Pumping the mascara will push air into the tube, potentially drying out the formula and introducing bacteria into it.

5. Move from the inside of your lashes out, making sure not to miss any on the way. To be sure there will be no clumping, it is imperative to give the mascara wand a slight wiggle while moving towards the end of the lashes. This will give you the most length and fullness of your lashes. Follow this step until you have reached the desired look.

6. Be sure to apply more mascara to the lashes both top and bottom before the first layer dries. If you wait until they have dried, the mascara will begin to flake off and often will end up in your eyes, and will certainly give you a great amount of discomfort. Follow each step the same way with the other eye and you are on your way to much more detailed eyes.

7. Use an eyelash comb to separate the wet lashes. Also blot the lashes with tissue paper if necessary to remove excess mascara.

8. Use less mascara for the lower lashes. To apply, simply work from the outside in, or the opposite of the way you did on the top row. You don't want to make your lashes look too overdone so when applying to the bottom row don't cover all lashes, only the lashes towards the outer corner of the eye.

9. Remove any stray mascara around the eye with a cotton swab dipped in a small amount of eye makeup remover.

Remember these tips:

-If your mascara is too thick, it is probably time to buy a new tube. Thicker mascara is harder to apply and often gives your lashes the kind of spider look that isn't too appealing.

-To further prevent clumping, when you apply your mascara, place the wand at the base of the eyelashes. Apply mascara with back-and-forth sawing motion. The bristles of the wand will separate lashes. This way, you'll get mascara on each individual lash, instead of clumping five eyelashes together.

-You must check to see if the lash base is coated as close to the skin as possible, as this shows up the shape of the eye and makes the look very natural. If you want to give the impression of not having any makeup on, coat below the lower lashes with clear mascara only and then comb them with eyebrow brush/comb after application. If you want really thick lashes, coat the upper and lower lashes with clear mascara, comb them and then coat the upper and lower lashes as with black mascara.

-To give an extra long look to your lashes: once they dry, coat the tips of the lashes two or three times with black mascara, while also drying and separating the lashes between applications. If you want very long lashes, coat them from the top. To avoid clumps, dot the tip on a tissue paper and gently roll and then apply. You can also run an eyelash brush gently through the lashes. If you wear contact lenses, you might want to invest in a mascara safe for contacts.

-To apply a thin, but even coat (if you hate those clumps, this will probably work no matter what kind of mascara you have --this is how professional makeup artists apply it). Using one finger, gently lift the skin of your upper eyelid up, then with your other hand gently stroke the mascara wand through your lashes a few times, from the inner corner to the outer corner, going over the tips of your lashes more than the base.

Mascara Warnings!

-After using your mascara for about three to four months, you should throw it out even if it is still in good condition. With mascara being used so close to the eye, the wand could carry bacteria that you don't want getting into your eye, causing infection and other nasty things.

-If you have recently had a communicable eye disease such as pink eye, immediately replace your mascara. There may be germs on the wand and you don't want to risk them getting back on/in your eyes.

-If you do poke your eye, immediately rinse your eye with water.

-Some people have allergies to different colors, different brands and different types of mascara. If you find your eyes become irritated after using waterproof you may want to try a different type. The same is true with the other brands and colors.

-For sensitive eyes,Clear mascara especially with curled lashes can be great way to go. The look is cleaner, more natural and much easier to remove.

-Make sure you aren't using a cheap/trashy brand. They are more likely to cause clumps. Try any mascara by Revtalash. (See Blog) It conditions lashes to their fullest, no clumps!

Lash Strategies: These simple mascara tips can give you long, thick, voluminous eyelashes that last all day every day.

1.Curl: The crimper curlers are the most popular. Remember, you can never, never, never use these once you have applied mascara. Otherwise you could do one of two things, chop your eyelashes off or pull them out. Either way, not good! The best way to use this kind of a curler is to get as close to the eyelash line as you can, crimp and count to five slowly. Move the curler out just slightly and crimp again, move with the angle of the eyelashes. Depending on the length of your lashes, do repeatedly until you have curled all the way out. Most people can do this 2-3 times.

2. Thicker Eyelashes: Holding your mascara in a horizontal position, apply your mascara at the base of the eyelash line and "wiggle" your brush all the way up to the top of the lashes.

3. Longer Eyelashes: Hold your brush in a vertical position, apply your mascara pulling the brush up, this will feel odd at first but it definitely works. If you need thicker and longer eyelashes, alternate steps 3 and 4, doing multiple coats. Just remember to take a minute and let the mascara dry in between so you don't have a big mess.

4. Comb: A lot of inexpensive brush sets come with a plastic lash comb. Do yourself a favor, throw it away and find yourself a metal comb. This will straighten out any mascara mess you may have gotten yourself into. You don't want tarantula leg eyelashes!
