Prior to the release of Forbidden Rose, Avril launched Black Star perfume, her first scent, in early August 2009.

Forbidden Rose for women begins with a complimenting feature of red apple and white peach that descend into a thrilling heart of bourbon pepper, lotus flower and apple blossom. Heliotrope introduces a base of pomegranate, sweet vanilla, chocolate and sandalwood which carefully explore hidden secrets within every girls heart. Avril Lavigne's Forbidden Rose perfume explores the imagination of Avril Lavigne with a rock inspired bottle decorated with a black rose stopper. Punk rocker Avril Lavigne unveiled her newest fragrance May 2009 called Black Star perfume for women. The launch party was held at PUNK in Oxford Circus, London, where Avril gave a group of international journalists a preview of her latest project. Last year, Avril Lavigne signed a major deal with Procter and Gamble to produce the new product line that includes perfume, aftershave, bath oil, bath soap, shower gel, body shampoo, and body lotion. The new scent “was inspired by Avril’s individuality and style” and is described as “young and fresh and edgy”. These hip fragrance notes feature pink hibiscus, black plum and dark chocolate. The flirtatious bottle features a detachable studded ring around the neck.

“I’m traveling to London next week where I’m about to announce my latest project ………. my very first fragrance! I’m really excited and can’t wait to share it with you. It will be available across Europe this summer, and soon in the US and Canada." Says Avril in a recent blog. “It has been a pretty cool experience. It’s so me in a bottle….hahaha! I love the packaging. I wanted to let you guys know the name first … so…..(drum roll please)…….hahah….. The name is Black Star!”

This 2009 year will release a number of celebrity debut fragrances and signature scents for Men and Women. Among entertainers such as Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani and Britney Spears, Canadian Pop Singer Avril Lavigne is preparing to launch her own line of perfume and toiletries. It has been reported that Lavigne has struck a licensing deal with Procter & Gamble Prestige Products.

“Young teenage girls really aspire to Avril and love everything about her,” said Heike Hindenlang, global marketing director for Procter & Gamble Prestige Products. “We think we can reach out to new consumers with her scents. It’s about finding which brands appeal to young consumers and [which] fashion and celebrities are resonant with them.”Avril said she was very pleased “to be working with Procter & Gamble on releasing my first fragrance. Creating this fragrance is a fun process and I am looking forward to sharing it with everyone.”

Lavigne, who evokes for us the scent of bubblegum and vinegar plans to include perfume, after shave, bath oil, bath soap, shower gel, body shampoo, and body lotion will be in production to the new line. While there’s no official launch date yet, the fragrance is expected to launch sometime during the second half of 2009. Possibly late summer, early fall.

In 2006, celebrity fragrances were the fastest growing segment of the $2.9 billion US perfume market. Sales of Lopez's fragrances Glow and Live Luxe made her $77 million in 2006, while Victoria and David Beckham's his and hers Intimately Beckham scents were among the most popular Christmas gifts last year.
